Failed Possession Chapter-57

## Ch-57.

“Point-Ignition.”

At some point, that form of address had become fixed.

Clutching the spot where he’d been smacked and groaning, Point-Ignition lifted his gaze.

“Why do you call Pad-lip Immune ‘-nim’?”

Not just the honorific—

when he said that name, his eyes sparkled with unmistakable expectation.

Surely not because he wanted to repay help he’d received in real life?

*No way.*

Even if he hadn’t known that ranking first meant being possessed into the game, Point-Ignition had reached first place thanks to Lee Suhyeok’s advice.

From his perspective, Pad-lip Immune was the one who caused him to end up struggling in this shitty world.

Intent didn’t matter.

“That’s…”

Point-Ignition hesitated.

“Pad-lip Immune-nim is revered as a saint of the cult.”

Yuri slightly raised his fist again.

The answer came out quickly.

It was incomprehensible.

“Sa… saint?”

“That’s right…”

“Why? Why is that… bastard being revered as a saint?”

For a moment Yuri wondered—

Was someone impersonating him in this world?

Considering he himself was currently impersonating CatPanties, it wasn’t impossible.

“Watch your words.”

Yuri hadn’t even lowered his raised fist yet—

but Point-Ignition glared at him fiercely.

Quite bold.

“Pad-lip Immune-nim guided us as an apostle of the God of Chaos.”

That was also an admission—

he was a cultist.

He carefully said “God of Chaos” instead of “evil god.”

“He gave selfless advice to many who were stuck at walls. If I recall correctly, CatPanties—you also received advice from Pad-lip Immune-nim.”

It was all true.

When the Hall of Fame was discovered, the dying community revived.

Veterans returned. Fresh newbies flooded in.

At first, simply clearing content could earn first place—

but as time passed, mediocre builds couldn’t break into the top ranks.

Questions flooded the forums.

Though he found the freeloading attitude annoying—

Lee Suhyeok answered every question diligently.

Not just him.

Other guide writers also typed fervently to prolong the golden revival.

Even subtle rivalries formed among veterans.

THOR123: This build can’t get first. The most efficient magic in Seronis is lightning magic from the Dercia Magic Tower. If you want first place, search THOR123 and read my lightning mage guide.

ㄴPad-lip Immune: This guy’s an idiot.

ㄴTHOR123: ?

ㄴPad-lip Immune: YOU MOTHER.***

ㄴPad-lip Immune: Don’t read his crap. I’ll write a new guide. Read that.

He’d custom-built one-on-one builds like he did for CatPanties.

He’d written shared guides too.

“….”

While Yuri was speechless, Point-Ignition clenched his fists and continued passionately.

“At first, I resented Pad-lip Immune-nim. Because of his advice, I fell into this terrible world! But—! After joining the Church of Chaos, I realized. In this world, if you have power, you can do anything!”

“….”

“Even possessors like us have talents the natives don’t!”

Not wrong.

Those with much to lose might wish to return to Earth.

Those with nothing—

would prefer to stay.

As he said, power meant everything.

Even the Dercia Magic Tower gave you a mansion just for reaching fourth rank.

In Korea, how much would that cost?

Here, no need to worry.

“Pad-lip Immune-nim is our benefactor who freed us from Earth…! I too was saved by him. We believe he is an apostle chosen by the God of Chaos.”

The evil god spread that damn game on Earth.

The evil god possessed innocent gamers into this world.

And the Church of Chaos worshiped that evil god.

“Ha…”

Yuri felt unjustly wronged—

but hearing this, it did sound plausible.

“Th-that guy… I mean, Pad-lip Immune. Did he say himself he’s an apostle?”

“I don’t know if he’s come to this world. CatPanties, haven’t you met him?”

So there was no impersonator.

“Uh… no.”

“…Ah…”

Disappointment clouded Point-Ignition’s face.

“That demon woman… Myohee also said she hadn’t met Pad-lip Immune-nim.”

The name Myohee still felt unfamiliar.

Had she compromised on the concept?

“Did Myohee say anything else?”

“She’d heard of Full-Moon Play… but said she wouldn’t meet him until reaching the same realm.”

Despite claiming she fell to her death—

Point-Ignition trembled whenever he mentioned her.

“What about me?”

“CatPanties… she said you were… cute.”

“…?”

“I don’t want to talk about Myohee anymore…”

“She’s already dead. What are you so scared of?”

“You don’t know her…!”

His eyes wavered again.

“She tormented us daily… ranting about Bunny Star. She claimed she descended from Bunny Star as a princess. By Bunny Star’s law, lowly ones like us owed absolute loyalty… If she ordered it, we had to jump into fire or water…”

So she just changed “bunny princess” into “Myohee” and removed the “usa” endings.

“Anyway.”

After he calmed down—

“I want to join the cult too. What do I do?”

That was why Yuri had come into Zone 4.

Suspicion had become certainty.

For two years, Yuri’s goal hadn’t changed:

Kill the evil god.

Impossible now—

but to kill him someday, he needed to know more.

Cultists were obstacles.

Enemies.

He didn’t know their size or strength.

So he’d find out.

Simple.

Danger?

There had been plenty in two years.

You don’t grow stronger fighting only safe battles.

“…There’s an assembly in two days.”

Point-Ignition said.

“The cult doesn’t reject possessors who come knowingly. Especially someone capable like you, CatPanties. Even the Bishop will gladly accept you.”

“The Bishop a possessor too?”

“No. A native.”

His gaze shifted to Haryeong.

“…What about her? Not a possessor?”

“My friend.”

“For CatPanties-dongsaeng-nim to call me friend… this noona is so moved she might cry.”

Haryeong answered lightly.

“Is she joining too?”

“Yes.”

“Conveniently, I’m non-religious. This seems like a fine opportunity to gain one. Not just any cult—but the Church of Chaos. Thanks to CatPanties-dongsaeng-nim, I’ll join a uniquely exotic sect. How thrilling.”

She played along naturally.

Her tone was calm—

but the excitement seemed genuine.

“Then I’ll be in your care for the next two days.”

Yuri stood up from the chair as he spoke.

“You’re… staying here?”

“Of course. What if I leave you alone and you run? Or maybe you bring your friends and try to kill me.”

Yuri added shamelessly,

“And I don’t have anywhere to stay. Or any money.”

“CatPanties-dongsaeng-nim, that is not something to boast about.”

“I’m not boasting.”

That concluded the conversation with Point-Ignition. Ignoring him as he opened and closed his mouth wordlessly, Yuri sent Haryeong a voice transmission.

[Are you sure about this?]

[You proceed with everything as you please, and only now you send a transmission? How shameless.]

[I told you I’d be doing something dangerous. If you don’t like it, you can go back now.]

[Ahh, Yuri-nim. I was wondering why you didn’t say anything in advance. Were you trying to push me away on purpose?]

Instead of answering, Yuri simply stared at her.

He couldn’t read her expression beneath the fox mask, but her eyes curved playfully.

[Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. I’d be worried sending you alone, so I’ll accompany you.]

[It’ll be dangerous.]

[I’m a noona who knows how to enjoy danger.]

Haryeong lifted her hand and made a V-sign deliberately.

For two days, Yuri listened to Point-Ignition explain the Church of Chaos.

After years of activity and developing deep, genuine faith—once divine power began to manifest—one could be recommended by a bishop to become a “priest.”

Point-Ignition wasn’t a priest yet.
But he wasn’t an ordinary follower either.

Though he’d been defeated easily by Yuri, fifth rank was respected anywhere.

Possessors, who had come to this world by the evil god’s authority, were regarded as especially precious by the cult.
To them, the existence of possessors was itself a miracle of the evil god.

Bracelets marked rank:

* No rank: white
* Below fourth rank: yellow
* Fifth rank: blue
* Possessors: red gem set into the bracelet

“You killed your assigned priest too?”

“As if.”

Point-Ignition answered seriously.

“Killing one’s assigned priest is extremely difficult. And now that the Church of Order has gone into complete seclusion, it’s nearly impossible.”

“Really?”

“If you succeed in killing your assigned priest, you become a bishop immediately.”

The Church of Chaos’s definition of “true faith” was fanatic devotion to the evil god.

How much harm one had inflicted upon the world.

As a believer in the “God of Chaos,” how much chaos one had caused.

“If you become a bishop, you can directly receive power from the god…”

Point-Ignition muttered blankly while staring at the ceiling.

“A possessor who kills a priest of Order and reaches a lofty rank is recognized as a saint of the cult. I’ve never met one personally, but I’ve heard they’re as strong as Martial Zeniths or Magic Tower Lords.”

At least seventh rank.

No matter that Yuri possessed the Evil-Quelling Heavenly Principle Technique and Blazing Burst Fist—fighting a seventh rank was suicide.

“Wear these.”

On the day of the assembly, Point-Ignition handed black masks to Yuri and Haryeong.

“We have many enemies.”

Even in Zone 4, full of criminals, cultists weren’t safe.
Depending on the scale of the assembly, War Church hounds might be dispatched.

“A fine day…”

Stepping out of the shack, Point-Ignition muttered while looking at the clear sky.

“I converted two fifth ranks. The Bishop will acknowledge me. Maybe he’ll even write me a recommendation to become a priest…”

There was a reason he had rolled into Evil Hamlet.

He had killed a mage of the Lefer Magic Tower.

After obtaining an inner core in Gangyu and reaching fourth rank, he committed the crime—for magic.

Lefer Magic Tower pursued the ultimate principles of fire magic.
Its magic had been the core of the build that allowed him to reach first place.

Magic Towers never tolerated the leakage of their spells.

Fearing pursuit, he fled to Panteleon’s outer zone, known as a lawless land.
Three years ago, he barely secured entry into Evil Hamlet.

A year ago, he joined the Church of Chaos and, by order of the Bishop, began living in the slums.

Not fitting for a fifth-rank mage—

but a bishop’s order was absolute.

“The Bishop dislikes me.”

Leading the way, Point-Ignition grumbled.

“Probably because I’m a possessor and a mage. As you know, possessors’ talents are especially suited for magic.”

“That’s true.”

“It’s ugly jealousy. Damn it, normally I’d be living in the central district, not this damned slum…”

Yuri didn’t bother replying.

The underground cavern designated for the assembly was packed with at least several hundred people.

All wore identical black masks and bracelets of varying colors.

Yellow dominated overwhelmingly.

White, blue, and occasionally red appeared.

A red bracelet meant possessor.

Seeing this many possessors at once felt strange.

“What do you usually do at assemblies?”

“Worship.”

Point-Ignition replied.

“The Bishop begins by baptizing new members. Then worship begins. We also have orgies.”

“…Or… what?”

“Orgy.”

Though his face was hidden by the mask, his tone was matter-of-fact.

“Other things too. Alcohol, drugs… On days when we capture a blasphemer, we execute them publicly and drink their blood.”

“What’s a blasphemer?”

“One who blasphemes the god.”

“…Right. I get the killing part. Why drink their blood?”

“To purify it with the faith inside me.”

What kind of bullshit is this?

“I understand if you’re uncomfortable. It’s not mandatory. Plenty are eager.”

“…Uh…”

[How are these bastards any different from demonic cults?]
Haryeong sent a transmission.

[Exactly…]

[And an orgy? Yuri-nim, that’s far too much for a maiden like me. I’m suddenly tempted to leave.]

[Ahem…]

[Don’t tell me you’re looking forward to the orgy?]

[Are you insane?]

[Sounds like you are.]

[I am not.]

Yuri responded stiffly and nudged Point-Ignition’s side.

“So where’s the Bishop?”

“He will be descending shortly—”

“Gaaah!”

A sudden scream cut him off.

“Disgusting followers of the vile evil god!”

Turning toward the sound, Yuri saw a man wildly swinging a sword.

“How dare you! Even if you merely borrow Panteleon’s land, to hold a worship assembly for the evil god here!”

“Who the hell is that?!”

A cultist wearing a blue bracelet rushed him—

but golden sword energy slashed down and severed his arm cleanly.

“I am Estor Orsia!”

The man tore off his mask and shouted.
